Homemade Formal Concept Analysis
What is this?
Formal concept analysis is a tool for converting data represented as a boolean matrix into a visualizable hierarchy to make it easier to understand. The booelan matrix is called a formal concept and the hierarchy generated from the formal concept is called a formal lattice.
Using this page, you can generate a hierarchy from a CSV file. In the CSV file, empty cells are interpreted as false and all other cells are interpreted as true. You can also see the generated Mermaid code to process it in other applications.
Here is an example.
A formal context of fruit and their attributes
| Red Color | Grow on Trees | Small Size | Tropical | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple | X | X | ||
| Banana | X | X | ||
| Cherry | X | X | X | |
| Date | X | X | X |
The resulting formal concept
